Breaking News: Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Preferred Viewing Offered as Part of Genie+
Today marks the first day of the Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade during the daytime at the Magic Kingdom and MickeyBlog is at the parks ready to bring you a first look at the holiday festivities. Upon our arrival we noticed something rather interesting. Disney has added the holiday parade to their list of Genie+ Lightning Lane options.
As you can see above, the parade is listed on Genie+ and it will be running twice today, once at 12pm and then again at 3:45 pm.
When you select Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade from the attractions menu, it gives you the option of booking as Lightning Lane pass.
We can also officially confirm that when you go to book the experience via Lightning Lane it is part of the $15 per person per day Genie+ fee.
As you can see from the instructions above, Guests booking the experience are asked to redeem their Lightning Lane entry with one of the Cast Members at the designated parade viewing area which is in the courtyard near Cinderella Castle during the arrival window listed at the time of booking. The roped off Lightning Lane area would appear to be located on the East Side of Plaza Gardens which would be similar to the location used for the fireworks dessert parties.

For those unfamiliar, now that the last Very Merriest After Hours event has happened, Disney will run the Christmastime Parades in the afternoon in thru the remainder of December. The parades will take place on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, December 22nd – 12 pm, 3:45 pm.
- Thursday, December 23rd- 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Friday, December 24th – 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Saturday, December 25th, 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Sunday, December 26th , 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Monday, December 27th, 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Tuesday, December 28th, 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Wednesday, December 29th, 12 pm, 3:45 pm
- Thursday, December 30th, 12 pm, 3:30 pm
- Friday, December 31, 12 pm, 3:30 pm
Disney World hasn’t revealed whether Lightning Lane will be available for each of the days listed above but we would imagine that this will be the case.
For those that don’t mind parting with the additional Genie+ fee of l $15 per person per day, the Lightning Lane option would guarantee you a prime viewing location for the Christmastime Parade with out having to stake out your spot well in advance. The parade is notoriously popular at Magic Kingdom with devotees lining up hours in advance.
