Grand Gingerbread House Structure Built Overnight
The heart-warming and holiday-scented Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa took shape overnight. Cast members and construction workers began their work around midnight with framing well underway this morning.
The two-story structure, which dates back to 1999, hosts a merchandise location during the holiday season as well as a special stop for holiday treats.
Like the Magic Kingdom holiday splendor, the Gingerbread House seemed to magically appear with crews laboring throughout the night.
Once the framework is complete, Disney pastry chefs take over the process of adorning the house with thousands of pounds of gingerbread, icing, and sugar-based decorations.
The house also features quintessential holiday icons like reindeer, fluffy piles of snow, garlands hung throughout the windows, and of course, Santa Claus himself.
Like last night’s crew (pictured above around midnight), the pasty chefs will also work quickly and throughout the night in order to get the house ready for guests in the next week or so.
The wonder of the holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort never fails to be breathtaking, and the speed at which the transformation happens wows us annually. Today is certainly no different!
After closing down the Magic Kingdom last night after midnight for the last Boo Bash of the year, crews immediately went to work to ready Magic Kingdom for this morning’s big Christmas-themed reveal.
Disney’s Beach Club resort also assembled its annual holiday decor overnight: a magnificent carousel themed after “The Little Mermaid.” Make sure to stop by and count how many Hidden Mickeys appear on this year’s design.
With so much more to come, it’s certainly starting to feel like “the most wonderful time of the year” at “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” Stay tuned for more of the incredible decorations, merchandise and treats popping up throughout the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney parks.
