‘What If…?’ Director Talks Proposed T’Challa/ Star Lord Spinoff
The finale of Marvel’s most recent series is fastly approaching, and the MCU anthology series has already given fans plenty of memorable moments, and characters, including our favorite Wakandan prince in the cosmic world; the What if…? Director now talks proposed T’Challa/ Star Lord spinoff.
With the untimely death of beloved MCU actor Chadwick Boseman, the season finale of What If…? will feature the final time the actor will portray his beloved character of T’CHalla in a Marvel property.

With the incredible decisions made by the showrunners, it will be incredibly difficult for the fandom to say goodbye to the legendary actor, and this new version of the character many have come to adore; with the hopes, we may not have to, as the What If…? director talks proposed T’Challa/ Star Lord spinoff.
The series director, Bryan Andrews, spoke with Variety about the experience working with Boseman on his final project, the reprisal of the T’Challa character, and the rumored spinoff to follow the characters appearance in the What If…? series.

“Chadwick had recorded his Star Lord T’Challa stuff early, but we had those later episodes that he appeared in sporadically, and it was a long stretch before we hot him [again].” Andrews Continued, “It was not long after the final recording that he passed.”
Andrews noted Boseman’s insistence on being present for the recording, with the director speaking. to the importance of the character to the late actor, personally, that drove his insistence that he take part in the animated anthology series.

Andrews stated, “I think he was also trying to make an effort because T’Challa was so Important to him- and also this new version of Star Lord T’Challa was so important to him. He dug it.”
Andrews also expounded upon an often rumored idea that T’Challa was potentially going to get his own spinoff series after the events of What If…?; with the project’s status still undetermined, and the potential for its fruition still a reality to the show’s creators.

“I don’t know if he knew this, but there was planning to have Star Lord T’Challa spin off into his own show with that universe and crew.” Andrews concluded, “We were all very excited. We know he would have loved it, too. And then, you know, he passed, and so all that’s in limbo.”
“So, who knows? Maybe one day.”

That statement by Andrews keeps hope alive that T’Challa can live on in the Marvel Non-Cinematic Universe, upholding the brilliant legacy that Boseman cultivated with MArvel.
Till then, we all can honor the actor in today’s debut of the season one finale, and his final performance as our beloved King of Wakanda, The Black Panther himself; T’Challa.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, a beautiful piece of art entitled, “King Chad” was put on display in the Downtown Disney District to pay tribute to ‘Black Panther’ star, Chadwick Boseman. Artist Nikkolas Smith, who is also a former Disney Imagineer, was among the first to see his artwork featured in the District. This art installation will be on display in Downtown Disney through Dec. 31, 2020.
