Disney World Gets Its First New Boat to Shuttle Guests in 30 Years
Just mere days after Disney’s 50th Anniversary, we’re celebrating another momentous occasion. A new boat cruiser has joined the fleet and is the first new boat added to the line-up in the last 30 years. This new boat is called the Tradewinds, a name chosen by Walt Disney Imagineering and voted on by watercraft cast members. Trade Winds of course refers to the nearly constant wind that blows across the equator.
The watercraft team pictured above also had a say in the boats construction. They offered feedback that directly impacted the designs of the vessel from the position of the pilot house to the amount of cabin space available to guest.
Colin Garton, Transportation Guest Experience Manager had this to say of the construction process, “We solicited feedback from cast members about the things they would like to see in a new motor cruiser, and we put it into the boat.” He continued “Everything about it was made to make cast member input a reality.”
Thanks to the small adjustments made to the Tradewinds, the new boat will stand out among the older cruisers in the fleet which will make a big difference to cast members and visitors alike.
Bill Carter, a Transportation Engineering Services cast member who made sure the boat was perfect for launch said, “It’s a great addition to the flee..” He continued,. “Everybody is really proud of it. I think it’s going to go over big time with the guests.”
So how can you find this new boat!? If you’re heading to Disney soon be on the lookout for a boat with bright orange, yellow, white and teal coloring. Check out the awesome TikTok below of the cast gathering together to christen the boat.

Greg Klesaris, the Facility Asset Management Project Planner in charge of Tradewinds had this to say about the process of creating Tradewinds, “The project team on this boat has been amazing.” He continued, “From Transportation Operations to our engineers, everyone has come together to get the job done, and it’s been really great getting to collaborate with all of these people.”
