Steve Jobs
Jobs was the cofounder and CEO of Apple, CEO of Pixar, and inarguable one of the world’s most iconic executives.
The man who brought us iPhones, iMacs, and the iPod passed away 10 years ago at 56 years old. He had been battling pancreatic cancer for many years.
Disney and Pixar
Jobs and Disney initially had a strong, positive partnership when the animation studio partnered with Pixar and created multiple successful animations.
The relationship became strained when Disney did not renew their partnership and created its own sequel to Toy Story.
In 2005, Iger assumed the role of Disney CEO and and wanted to reestablish the connection and relationship with Pixar.
After reaching out to Jobs, a new friendship and partnership emerged based on mutual respect and dynamic creativity.
Iger and Jobs
The two dynamic executives shared a six year friendship and worked together to support Disney and Apple.
Iger early on agreed on a deal to put Disney content onto iTunes to help the music platform grow.
Iger also supported Jobs at the launch of the video iPod to announce that 5 new ABC shows would be available on iTunes providing immediate access to popular content.
And in 2006, Jobs sold Pixar to Disney to reinvigorate Disney Animation and solidified his role of friend and advisor.
Remembered
However, Iger is not the only one feeling the loss as thousands of fans took to social media to remember Jobs and his impact on culture and communication.
On the 10 year anniversary of his death, Iger and fans continue to reflect on and be grateful for the impact of this talented visionary.
