50th Anniversary PB & Banana Pie Delights at Contemporary
Though it’s missing the bacon, Elvis Presley would certainly not call the Contemporary’s new 50th anniversary dessert a heartbreak at this hotel. The reimagined Peanut Butter-Banana Pie debuted yesterday at the Contempo Cafe inside the iconic Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The upscale version of the location’s long-loved treat essentially flips its ingredients inside out. Now surrounded by a dainty, buttery tart crust, the creamy peanut butter filling runs throughout the base of the tart. Previously, the nutty flavor sat atop the pie itself.
With pyramids of peanut butter frosting on top, it’s the new additions to the decor of this decadent dessert that really give it “The Most World’s Most Magical Celebration” treatment.
A gold-dusted chocolate layer hides the peanut butter and banana filling nestled underneath. Still, it’s the milk chocolate 50th anniversary medallion that propel this treat into the upper echelons of richest treats at the Walt Disney World Resort.
White chocolate and dark chocolate accents add a modern line to the tart in a nod to the resort’s new mid-century makeover. Even the gold glitter balls are edible!
The 50th anniversary version of this Contempo staple will feautre throughout the 18-month celebration. At $4.99, it’s definitely a steal of a treat.
Other Contemporary Happenings
Earlier this week, the Contemporary debuted its new lobby design, which largely celebrates the brightly colored work of Disney artist and animator Mary Blair. As part of the renovations, The Wave restaurant received a complete transformation into the upscale new eatery, Steakhouse 71.
The restaurant officially welcomed its first guests yesterday, an incredible day at the Walt Disney World Resort. Thousands of people descended to the “most magical place on Earth” to mark the special day.
