Cinderella Castle Moat Being Drained at Magic Kingdom
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that Walt Disney World’s 18th Month 50th Anniversary celebration officially ended on March 31, 2023. All Disney parks are now celebrating Disney100 which is the centennial celebration of the Walt Disney Company. With this in mind, many have been wondering if Magic Kingdom will be taking down the 50th Anniversary decorations and swapping them out for Disney100 ones. If the castle moat is any indication, the answer is yes!
Though we can’t confirm or deny that decorative changes will be coming to the castle, over the past three days Magic Kingdom has been in the process of slowly draining the moat.
The last time we saw the castle moat being fully drained was when Disney originally put up the 50th Anniversary decorations.
Draining the waterway around the castle allows construction crews to be able to get to the base of the castle with cranes, scaffolding, etc.
If you’ll be at Magic Kingdom over the Easter weekend, look over the bridges and you’ll see the process underway.
We don’t know what the fate of the castle decorations will be.
However, we suspect that Disney may be swapping out the 50th Anniversary decorations which featured an EARidescent colorway to the platinum and purple colorway of Disney 100.
Draining the moat is a lengthy process.
However, we will be following the progress closely.
