EPCOT Debuts New “Beacons of Magic” Hues
After weeks of work installing an array of lighting across Spaceship Earth, the EPCOT icon lit up tonight with a glimmer of what is to come with the new “Beacons of Magic” experience. Tonight after a soft opening of the spectacular new evening spectacle, “Harmonious,” Spaceship Earth truly transformed ever before the actual experience began.
With a purple glow encasing the majority of the top of the theme park icon, the new lighting motif begins at the bottom of Spaceship Earth.
Vibrant yellows covered the bottom of the globe before the shades transition into an incredible orange shade. As the light travels further up Spaceship Earth, the colors morph into a pink hue and then finally into a glowing violet.
Turning the corner to exit the park, Spaceship Earth’s glow spread through the enormous pillars atop EPCOT’s new entrance fountain, also constructed for the 50th anniversary.
Through the prisms, a brillaint blue hue beams up to the sky, largely due to the blue lighting throughout the fountain’s pool
Bends of light and changes in shades within the fountain cause a metamorphosis in the pylons based on the colors behind them from those magnificent beacons of sunset shades.
The colors are truly breathtaking even in photographs with MickeyBloggers commenting that the show is far more impressive in person.
Each of the four theme park icons received new lighting in celebration of the 50th anniversary’s “Beacons of Magic” nighttime festivities, which are meant to “beakon all to come and celebrate,” according to the Walt Disney World website.
“Lights shine from within Spaceship Earth’s reflective panels as stardust emerges to symbolize beacons of possibility and optimism,” according to Disney’s page.
Prior to exiting the park, the gorgeous purple hue lit up the sky even from the Isle de France space. Earlier in the evening, MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa live streamed from a dessert party in honor of the “Harmonious” debut.
With so many events to look forward to this week, a preview of “Beacons of Magic” certainly offered an unexpected and visually stunning way to end the evening.
