New Magical Settings
The Disney Resorts collection is constantly evolving adding new properties or enhancing existing favorites.
Recent new additions include Disney’s Riviera Resort and the Gran Destino Tower (Coronado Springs Resort.) You’ll also find re-imagined spaces at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!
Rooms with Character
Two current shining stars in the Disney Resorts Collection are properties that have been a part of the Disney magic since 1971 and have recently undergone some character enhancements!
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The Poly rises on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon and is located just across from Magic Kingdom. This property is known for transporting guests to a romantic, tropical world filled with lush vegetation and thatched-roof charm.
Guest rooms here have been recently re-imagined with details and textures-inspired by Disney’s beloved film Moana. Looking closely around the room you’ll find many of the characters along with other elements from the film. Sands of the ocean floor inspired the tiles in the bathroom and the carved vanity is something to check out.
Outdoor areas at the Poly add to a special South Seas charm. After the sun sets you’ll feel like you’ve landed on an island oasis.
In addition to the room changes, the property also now boasts a dramatic new porte cochere enhancing the arrival experience as you pull up to the Great Ceremonial House. Look up and you’ll see an enormous, high pitched, open truss roof covered in a thatch style with bold pops of color. This open and airy entrance is anchored by four chandeliers that are inspired by glass floats and fishing nets.
The monorail station is located above the Porte Cochere and features new wooden screens with geometric patterns in tropical colors in keeping with the property’s Mid-Century Modern feel.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
A property that truly captured the imagination of early Disney World visitors some five decades ago, Disney’s Contemporary Resort was part of Walt’s dream of a magical new future.
With the monorail running right through it’s A-frame tower, the resort became an instant icon while paying tribute to the future of imagination and progress. As Disney World gets ready to celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary on October 1st, Disney Imagineers are continuing to build on Walt’s optimistic spirit enhancing the retro-modern property with a dash of something INCREDIBLE.
At the moment, all guests in the tower are being refurbished blending the futuristic Monorail motif which some of your favorite friends from Pixar Animation Studios Incredibles films. The rooms will feature Jack-Jack, Frozone, Edna Mode, Mr. Incredible and more!
The updated corridors will be modern and oh so stylish complimenting the architecture and the new theme of the guest rooms.
Exciting changes are also being extended to the lobby where guests can see a collection of modern art pieces along with historical behind-the-scenes photographs of Disney’s Contemporary Resort when it was first being constructed 50 years ago.
A new restaurant is also coming called Steakhouse 71, it will offer a new dining experience in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
