Disney Springs Boats Return to the Sassagoula River During Test-Sailings Today!
The Sassagoula River was once again bustling this morning! On a visit to Disney Springs just before opening, the Sassagoula Boat Fleet was out in full force as they test the vessels for a very imminent reopening.
From our vantage point on the shore, it was clear the boats and their captains were being put through some tests to insure everything is operating perfectly when the boats do reopen. The question is: when will that be?
We have some answers for you! We talked to a boat captain over at Saratoga Springs. While he was testing the docking and launching one of the boats, he informed us that the Sassagoula River Boat Fleet is set to reopen on October 1– weeks ahead of the rumored reopening!
He even told us to keep an eye out for a soft reopening of the boats as early as next week! The boat fleet will take guests to and from the surrounding Disney Springs Resorts located along the tranquil Sassagoula River…but that’s not all. The internal Disney Springs connecting the West Side to the Marketplace are slated to reopen right along with the Resort boats!
Personally, I can’t wait to sail the Sassagoula Boat Fleet to French Quarter where I know fresh hot beignets will be waiting for me! Are you looking forward to the return of the boats? Leave us a comment and let us know!
If staying at another DW RESORT, can we access the boats in Port Orleans ?
THANKS.
As of 2020 when the boats were last running- yes you can! You can access the boats from the Disney Springs launch and take them to either of the Port Orleans properties free of charge!
