Who is ready for the spooky season!? If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that Halloween at Disneyland Resort officially kicked off on September 3rd and will run through until October 31st.
We’re pretty partial to the Halloween Season and would even go so far as to say that its one of the best times to visit Disneyland Resort.
Don’t believe us? We’ve come up with 13 frightfully delightful reasons why you’ll want to start planning your September of October getaway NOW!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Jack, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie and the rest of the gang are officially BACK for their Halloween takeover of the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square at Disneyland. Each year this beloved attraction gets a Nightmare Before Christmas makeover. This includes a 10 foot tall gingerbread creation!
Mickey, Minnie and Other Disney Friends in Costume
Be on the lookout for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, goofy, Donald, Daisy and the rest of the gang. During the season they are sporting their favorite Halloween outfits. They can be seen waving to guests at locations throughout the parks.
Cars Land Haul-O-Ween
No place does Halloween quite like Radiator Springs. Mater, Lightning McQueen, Cruz, Red and more have transformed their little nook of Disney California Adventure park into “Radiator Screams.” My favorite thing about a visit here is the chance to check out Mater, Lighting McQueen and more decked out in their favorite costumes.
Spooky Eats and Treats
A cauldron of goodies awaits during your Halloween Disneyland Resort visit. You’ll find everything from Poison Skull Applies, Vampire Mickey Bat Cookies, Crazy Cone Macaroons to this year’s special Mickey’s Mummy Popcorn Bucket. Prepare to have your test buds tantalized.
Mesmerizing Decor
Disneyland REALLY knows how to decorate and you’ll find evidence of that around every turn. Be on the lookout for frightfully delightful touches like the Headless Horseman statue!
Villain Sightings
You never know who you might bump into during Halloween. Be on the lookout for Villains like Cruella de Vil, Evil Queen, Queen of Hearts, Gaston, Captain Hook and more appearing throughout the parks.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
Join Rocket on a thrilling race to rescue Groot in this action-packed adventure. Now part of the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure you’ll find that Mission BREAKOUT! undergoes a mysterious transformation as the sun sets. This ride has it all, big thrills, monstrous fun and your favorite Guardians!
Wickedly Wonderful Merchandise
Shops at Disneyland Resort will be carrying the season’s hottest new items. This includes pumpkin glow-in-the-dark spirit jerseys, glow necklaces, Minnie and Minnie plush dolls, Halloween art, family tees, pajamas and so much more!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit – NEW! – Guests visiting Downtown Disney will have fun with this pumpkin hunt. You purchase a game board and sticker set at Select Disney merchandise locations (including world of Disney) and then set off in search of pumpkins hidden throughout the Downtown Disney district. Return your completed board game to the redemption location and you’ll get a spooky surprise!
Spooky Hotel Makeovers
Even Disney’s three onsite resorts are getting in on the fun. In the lobby of Paradise Pier Hotel you’ll find Ursula’s tentacles enveloping the lobby in a towering display. Disneyland Resort is all about the Haunted Mansion and you’ll find its themes throughout the lobbies. Then there’s Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa which features an Oogie Boogie sculpture made with 260 pounds of powdered sugar, 380 eggs, 95 pounds of marshmallow, 80 pounds of butter, 120 pounds of dark chocolate and 13 Hidden Mickeys!
Picks With the Giant Pumpkin
During the Halloween months, this gourd-eous display is the most photographed area of Disneyland Park! Be sure to stop here and grab a selfie to commemorate your visit!
Pumpkin Festival on Main Street
In addition to the friendly fella pictured above, guests will also want to carve out some time to check out the more than 300 hand-carved pumpkins that you’ll find along Main Street U.S.A. You’ll find them everywhere from high on top of storefronts to some spots that may surprise you!
Halloween Screams
End your day with this supernatural special effects show. There’s flams, projections, Disney Villains and show-stopping Halloween-inspired tunes. Guests will be able to view Halloween Screams from several different spots at Disneyland. This includes Main Street, Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world” and more.
During the weekends a fireworks display is added for an extra bit of Spooktacular magic!
