Is Marvels Most Theorized Character Hiding in the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer?
One of the characters that fans have most wondered about within the MCU is potentially making his appearance soon; could it be that Marvel’s most theorized character is hiding in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
The final chapter in Peter Parkers MCU saga will come in the form of the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With the film’s final trailer finally arriving for fans following Sony’s Cienmacon appearance earlier this month, fans have gotten their first glimpse into the multiversal adventure awaiting the MCU’s Peter Parker.
With this first glimpse comes the relentless fan theories that seem to parade throughout the fandom; some with plenty of evidence, some more creative, and hopeful.
Today, we may have a theory that actually holds some weight, and would give fans of the MCU the first appearance of a Marvel Comics character that has been heavily rumored to appear in recent projects.
Could it be that Marvel’s most theorized character is hiding in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer?
As is true with all theories, were not sure what could be true or not, so we issue a strong SPOILER WARNING for anyone who doesn’t want to be spoiled for this next Spidey adventure.
First brought to light by Tik Tok user @straw_hat_goofy, the theory says that Doctor Strange, as shown in the trailer, isn’t actually Doctor Strange at all; and instead is actually the villain Mephisto.
There are multiple reasons why this theory could actually speak to the contents of the film; the chief among them being the comic for which Spider-Man: No Way Home is based off.
The comic is called One More Day, and much like the events portrayed in the movie’s trailer follow Peter Parker’s pursuit to make the world forget the truth that he is Spider-Man.
What happens in the comic follows close to what the trailer has hinted at, although there is one major difference; Doctor Strange isn’t the one who makes Peters wish a reality, or even attempts to.
In the comic, it is actually Mephisto who makes a deal with Peter; forcing Spider-Man to trade Mary Jane’s love for him, in favor of everyone forgetting his secret identity.
With Doctor Strange seemingly acting out of character within the film, many have begun to suggest that Strange may not be exactly who he seems to be; with the theory suggesting that Mephisto is actually appearing to Peter in the form of the Sorceror, he trusts.
What seems to seal this theory as a potential spoiler is the final line of dialogue that viewers can make out.
It is the ominous tone in which the voice says, “be careful what you wish for Parker,” that displays a voice that is clearly Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch, but also someone completely different.
Fans have long-rumored the appearance of Marvel’s Demonic figure, with many expecting his eventual appearance to occur at some point in the Scarlet Witch-centered Wandavision.
This would be the perfect debut for the character, as it would bring forth the high-stakes evil that the character is so known for in the world of Marvel Comics.
What do you think? Is Doctor Strange truthfully trying to help Peter undo Mysterio’s vicious act, or is there something more to the role the Sorceror Supreme plays in this new film? Is Marvel’s most theorized character hiding in the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer? Let us know below!
