Biometric Finger Scanners Return to the Magic Kingdom!
I don’t know about you, but I think the best way to start the day involves a magical, rotating green light, and an adorable accompanying jingle.
What am I talking about? The entrance scanners to the Walt Disney World parks, of course!
This week has seen the return of the biometric finger scanners, which are used at the entrances to the parks to identify guests and confirm their admission. Back in July last year, the scanners were one of the many iconic park procedures which were removed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier in the week, we spotted they had magically appeared at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and, today, our friend Ashley Sampley found they have also made a jubilant return to the Magic Kingdom, too!
The scanners are located after the security checkpoints upon entry to the parks.
We especially love the location of the scanners at the Magic Kingdom with the beautiful Main Street Train Station as a backdrop, especially now it has just been uncovered from its scrim!
If you are unfamiliar with the scanners, first of all, you touch your MagicBand or admission card to the Mickey icon on the scanner. When the light encircling it speeds up, it is time to touch your finger on the biometric scanner just next to it.
When the lights go green, and you hear that magical jingle, it means you’re in!
Time to enjoy a day in the Most Magical Place On Earth.
Although we have seen a lot of restrictions slowly being lifted, Walt Disney World are still taking lots of care to ensure that the resort remains safe and sanitary for guests as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Sanitiser is readily available for guests after using this station, too.
We are very pleased to see the return of these biometric finger scanners, in plenty of time for the 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Magic Kingdom and throughout Walt Disney World.
As always, stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com for more updates on the resort’s COVID-19 precautions and restrictions.
