Finger Scan On Hold at Walt Disney World Resort
As the Walt Disney World Resort prepares for its grand reopening, another change has taken place. At this time, guests will no longer need to “finger scan” at the front gates.
This change comes alongside a variety of new and updated procedures to keep guests and cast members safe and healthy amidst the Coronavirus.
Prior to the parks shut down in March of this year, guests would scan their tickets or MagicBands followed by a quick finger scan. The finger scan was to ensure that tickets were being utilized by the same person and help prevent fraud/theft.
However, as part of safely reopening, the parks have updated their processes in order to promote a safe experience for guests which include minimizing touchpoints throughout the park.
Not only will guests no longer need to utilize the finger scan at the gate, but there are also a variety of contactless procedures guests will now see throughout the resort:
- Online Check-in for resort guests
- Contactless payment at shops
- Mobile ordering at restaurants
- Contactless payment at restaurants and more
A sneak peek into the parks via the Cast Member preview has allowed us to see many more changes that guests can expect when visiting the parks:
- Character cavalcades
- Spaced out seating on attractions
- Plexi-glass dividers at check out points and throughout various attractions
- Closed play areas (i.e. Pooh’s play area, Splash Mountain play area)
- Dividers on the monorails
- Social distancing guidelines throughout the parks
- Limited park capacity via Park Reservations
