Here’s The “Scoop” On This Day In Disney History
I scream, you scream, we all scream for some good ol’ fashioned Disney ice cream.
Whenever I visit the Disney parks, I look forward to indulging in one of the many sweet treats they have to offer.
Whether it’s the refreshing sweetness of a pineapple Dole Whip or the chocolatey goodness of a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar, there are endless possibilities to choose from.
And on August 23, 1999, Disney added yet another destination to their roadmap of satisfying sweets when Hollywood Scoops opened at Disney-MGM Studios (today known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios).
Hollywood Scoops is located in the Sunset Ranch Market at the end of Sunset Boulevard, right next to Fairfax Fare. It boasts a classic neon sign and features some truly delicious ice cream.
For the first ten years of this parks existence, Hollywood Scoops was not in the picture… literally.
Take a look at this photo that showcases Sunset Boulevard just before its official opening in 1994, with no corner ice cream stand.

Their menu showcases a variety of hand scooped ice cream flavors that are available in either a cup or cone, alongside ice cream sundaes, and shakes too!
With all the options that are offered, there’s bound to be something for everyone in your group to enjoy.
Right now Hollywood Scoops has a limited time offering they’ve added to their menu for this year’s spooky season called the Candy Corn Shake.
The Candy Corn Shake is a candy corn ice cream shake that’s topped with a vanilla cake doughnut, whipped cream, spooky sprinkles, and candy corn. As you can see, it’s definitely a scary good treat!
For the last 22 years, Hollywood Scoops has been serving up plenty of ice cream and lots of smiles.
Make sure to stop by on your next visit to Hollywood Studios and let us know what your favorite flavor is!
