Is That a Camera On Top of Spaceship Earth?
MickeyBlog was at EPCOT this afternoon and we noticed something interesting on Spaceship Earth.
If you were following along with us earlier today, we shared images from Imagineer Zach Riddley of the amazing lighting work that is being added to Spaceship Earth.
Riddley told us that Imagineers are currently working on the lighting which will be ready for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration which kicks off on October 1st.
According to Riddley, designers are currently working on effects for the new lights that have been installed and are almost realizing the system’s full potential before unveiling it to the public.
During our visit to EPCOT today, we noticed something very different atop the dome of Spaceship Earth.
We visited the park this past weekend and did not notice the fixture on top of the attraction.
That means that this is relatively new.
When we were at the parks today, we heard some speculation that it was a camera.
Perhaps this could be used to provide us with a unique perspective on the new lighting.
It’s also possible that with Riddley’s announcement that the lighting set up is complete on Spaceship Earth that its part of that arrangement.
Perhaps what were seeing is a top light designed to enhance the visual lighting effects that Riddley is talking about in his Instagram post.
We are so excited about all of the incredible changes coming to EPCOT.
In addition to the new lighting effects at Spaceship Earth, EPCOT is also getting a new nighttime show Harmonious that will open on October 1st.
And let’s not forget Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure which will be opening in the France Pavilion at World Showcase to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
