Splash Mountain Evacuates Guests, Drains Slide Again
With a strong rope drop game this morning, thousands of guests headed to one of the Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions: Splash Mountain.
However, just minutes after the first riders boarded the flume ride, it suffered a technological issue, forcing it to close and those riders to be evacuated off their boats.
After thanking guests on board for their patience, cast members kindly reminded riders to stay seated in their ride vehicles until assistance arrived.
Those in the queue disappointedly exited as cast members attempted to explain the situation. Though it is certainly an exciting experience to get evacuated off an attraction, it was not a Zip-a-dee-do-dah start to the day for these guests!
Splash Mountain closures seem to be a more common experience in recent weeks. With a huge renovation on the horizon, the ride is definitely on many guests’ must-do lists during a Magic Kingdom visit.
As with most closures, we imagine that those evacuated today will receive a Fast Pass to return to the attraction later today when it hopefully reopens to guests.
Not the Only Magic Kingdom Closure
Magic Kingdom suffered a less-than-magical start to this Saturday with not one but three popular attractions closed at park opening: Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, and the Pirates of the Caribbean. Though the park continues to undergo refurbishments to prepare for the 50th anniversary celebration in just a few weeks, these three attractions do not have scheduled closures on the near horizon.
Visitors continue to arrive by the thousands to the flagship Walt Disney World Resort theme park this morning. This week, visitors received quite a suprise as fall decorations popped up on Main Street U.S.A. early in the week and continued to spread as the days went on.

The fall-themed colors and pumpkins arrived a bit early this year in celebration of After Hours Boo Bash, a new special ticketed event that kicks off on August 10th at the Magic Kingdom. Hopefully, Splash Mountain will be back up in time for the exclusive evening!
