Work Continues on The Polynesian’s Exterior
Work on the exterior of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is coming along nicely. Photos taken today by MickeyBlog show some progress on the lengthy renovations to the Porte Cochere and Monorail Station. The project has been underway for the past 10 months as part of a massive refurbishment to the entire Resort.
In our last update, the thatched roof had just been erected over the Porte Cochere. Today, it appears some additional Polynesian-inspired details were added since our last visit.
This geometric orange, red, and yellow panel has been added to the center of the building, directly behind the thatched roof. The design is in line with the traditional Polynesian theme currently throughout the exterior of the resort.
Work was also being done to the building’s orange roof. Construction workers could be seen on top of it and plastic sheets were covering the work area.
Here is a view of the entire area, including the monorail station which is currently closed. Guests will need to take a bus or ferry boat to get to their destination at this time.
The building wasn’t the only thing getting a facelift today. Workers could be seen planting new palm trees along the roadway between the building and parking lot.
The exterior construction didn’t seem to interrupt guests, as they could be seen waiting for transportation under the completed thatched roof.
Construction is expected to continue for some time. Although no official end date has been announced for the exterior work, interior refurbishments have been completed. The Resort welcomed guests back on July 19, when they debuted their brand new Moana-themed rooms.
