Masks Return to Magic Kingdom, Crowds Remain
After a more than two-month hiatus, both guests and cast members returned to masking indoors today at the Magic Kingdom. The change to Walt Disney World as well as the Disneyland Resort after new guidance from the CDC on Tuesday as well as a surge in COVID-19 cases in the Orlando area.
Signange throughout Main Street U.S.A. boldly reminded guests that a mask must be warn upon entering buildings with an image regarding proper mask use. The verbage changed compared to previous mask requirements, which called them face coverings.
At both Plaza Ice Cream Parlor as well as Casey’s Corner, the new rule appeared on digitial displays throughout the quick-service establishments.
Reminders even appeared on the inside doors of the Main Street shops, including the incredibly popular merchandise location, The Emporium.
Crowds of guests queued up inside the Main Street Bakery to grab a cup of Joe this morning before enjoying the Magic Kingdom. With masks ready, the crowds seem prepared for today’s rule change. Currently, social distancing requirements have not returned.
Cast members also must wear masks again indoors, despite their change in policy a few weeks ago.
Some roles also returned to wearing them outdoors today it appears, especially those in food and beverage position.
The same signage that appeared throughout our MickeyBlogger’s stroll down Main Street also popped up near the Walt Disney World Railroad in large, eye-catching signs.
As guests approached the hub and the grandeur that is Cinderella Castle, especially now with its 50th annivesary decor, even larger signs made sure that guests knew the new requirement.
Crowds Return to the Magic Anyways
The new mandate did not seem to deter crowds this morning. Lines to enter the Magic Kingdom began well before the parks 9 a.m. opening time.
