Spotlight On: Disney’s Horticulture Immersion
It’s no secret that Disney’s extreme attention to Themeing in their Parks sets them apart from others in the industry. In fact, Disney’s commitment to themeing every single inch of their Parks has become such a topic of interest among fans that executives regularly take to social media to teach guests about what goes into it all.
Disney’s Horticulture team is largely responsible for creating the Parks vast and varied landscapes. These landscapes play such a huge role into convincing guests that they have stepped into another world- let’s find out how they do it!
Disney’s Horticulture teams work around the clock to ensure each bit of landscaping looks perfect for guests 365 days a year.
In Florida, rain plays a huge role in the landscape. Most of the plants the Horticulture team installs are not native to Florida though, so Disney utilizes advanced rainfall monitoring systems to make sure every plant is getting enough to drink.
Every Christmas, Magic Kingdom transitions from brightly colored flowers to a poinsettia lover’s dream overnight. Animal Kingdom’s dense foliage is constantly changing and new plants are always being added. Perhaps the best example of Horticulture’s constant efforts are the topiaries on display during Disney’s Flower and Garden Festival!
Trucks loaded supplies deliver everything needed to transform Epcot for the Festival- including these living topiaries in the likeness of Disney characters!
Disney’s Horticulture presence in the Parks started on opening day and has only continued to grow ever since! Take a quick read of the story behind Disney’s now-famous Horticulture logo:
