Magic Kingdom Fireworks Light Up The Night Sky
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog, you’ll know that Disney World is testing the Happily Ever fireworks in the evening. We were there last night to bring you the magic.
Our MickeyBloggers went over to the roof deck at Disney’s Contemporary Resort which is known for it’s fantastic sightlines! Isn’t the sunset simply stunning!
Happily Ever After will be back for a few short months and then Disney World will transition to their special Disney Enchantment which has been created especially for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration! For those unfamiliar, Happily Ever After was Magic Kingdom’s pre-pandemic fireworks display. It is hailed as a journey of light and song that captures the heart, humor and heroism of Disney animated films. The evening spectacular includes state-of-the-art projection technology, pyrotechnics,, lights, lasers, special effects and a magical score featuring much-loved Disney songs.
Watching the fireworks last night actually made us emotional and we had a positively breathtaking spot at the Contemporary Resort.
Note how in these images you can really get a sense of the sheer scale of the production. .
You can see Space Mountain on your right and Cinderella Castle on your left.
The fireworks span the entire horizon. Over space mountain you get the larger pyrotechnics.
On the left over Cinderella Castle you’ll notice colorful castle projections as well as smaller fireworks.
It’s amazing to watch from within the park itself but viewing from the monorail properties offers a truly unique perspective.
In the image below you’ll notice the purple lasers shining high in the sky!
It really makes the castle come to life with a magical glow!
When you’re standing at the HUB in the Magic Kingdom, you really have the illusion that all of the fireworks are happening immediately overhead.
However the larger flourishes actually happen nearer to Tomorrowland.
For those wondering what the crane is just past Space Mountain, it is for the NEW Tron coaster currently under construction in Tomorrowland.
The entire fireworks display features 8 distinct segments.
The first section is the introduction where we here the Happily Ever After tune for the first time. It features the voices of Angie Keilhauer and Jordan Fisher.
Next is the segment called Wish featuring segments from The Princess and the Frog, Ratatouille, Tangled and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The “Adventure” section features music or scenes from A Bug’s Life, Cars 3, Up, Finding Nemo and Moana.
My favorite segment is called “Friendship” and features Aladdin, Tarzan, The Lion King, Pinocchio, Toy Story, Jungle Book, Wreck-It-Ralph, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Inside Out, Monsters University and The Jungle Book
I love the image above of the double firework rings above Space Mountain.
The next section of Happily Ever After is all about Love. It features music and clips form WALL-E, The Lion King, Tarzan, Inside Out, Finding Dory, Up, Dumbo, Zootopia, The Incredibles, Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Princess and the Frog.
The love segment of the fireworks is followed by one where characters are seen featuring adverse situations. This includes Mulan, Frozen, The Incredibles, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty.
Next up, it’s all about the heroes with images from Pirates of the Caribbean, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Brave, Mulan, The Incredibles and Sleeping Beauty.
The final section of the fireworks represents the calm after the storm and features so many of our Disney friends from Hercules, The Lion King, Aladdin, Tarzan, Mulan, Moana, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Wrieck-It Ralph, The Princess and the Frog, Frozen, Brave, Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.
The fireworks display then concludes with a return to the Happily Ever After theme song!
“Happily Ever After” proceeded Disney World’s long-running fireworks display “Wishes.”
The extravaganza first made its debut back on May 12, 2017.
“Happily Ever After” went dark during Walt Disney World’s theme park shutdown due to the pandemic.
It did not reopen with the parks last Summer due to social distancing requirement which demanded that any events that would encourage a group to gather like fireworks and parades be suspended.
With social distancing requirements loosened drastically over the last few weeks, Magic Kingdom can once again light up the night sky.
The state of parades at Disney World still remains a bit uncertain. Disney has replaced them with character cavalcades which are spontaneous mini parades that happen throughout the day.
Character meet and greets aren’t happening at the moment.
Disney World has brought back some stage shows across the parks like Festival of the Lion King while others like Fantasmic! remain closed.
Its so nice to see Happily Ever After back at the park and it will certainly be bittersweet when the show once again goes on hiatus when it is replaced for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The 50th Anniversary will be celebrated for 18 months at Walt Disney World during which time we would expect the 50th Anniversary fireworks show to continue nightly.
There is no word yet on whether Disney World has plans to bring back Happily Ever After once the 50th Anniversary has ended.
We would suspect so given that Happily Ever After is relatively new.
For the anniversary, EPCOT will also be premiering a new evening spectacular that combines fireworks with water pageantry.
The show will be called Harmonious and will celebrate the impact that Disney music has on cultures around the world.
It was just announced this week that in addition Animal Kingdom will be offering a stunning new kite show that will take place several times throughout the day.
We simply cannot wait for the exciting year ahead!
Happily Ever After which will officially open for Cast Member previews on June 29th and then to the general public beginning on July 1st.
Don’t miss your chance to check out Happily Ever After Fireworks which kicks off on July 1st and will run through until Disney’s official 50th Anniversary launch on October 1st.
If you were dazzled by these photos then you’ll love our video of the fireworks also taken yesterday!
