Important Blizzard Beach Basics and Expert Tips
Are your headed to Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park during your upcoming trip? Hooray! Here are a few Blizzard Beach basics to get you started since this MickeyBlogger was just there last week.
How to Get There
At this time busses are not running directly to Blizzard Beach. You have to get there by taking the Disney bus to Animal Kingdom and then transferring to a Blizzard Beach bus. If you prefer a more direct route or can take an Uber or Lyft.
Locker Rooms
Locker rooms are available and clean. The Women’s locker room has individual dressing rooms with cloth curtains for privacy. The Men’s locker room is a traditional locker room feel, with benches and a common changing area. Both have bathrooms and sinks.
Towels and Locker Rentals
Towels are free for resort guests, or a $2 rental fee for non-resort guests. They can be picked up at Snowless Joe’s or Beach Haus. There are locker rental kiosks next to Snowless Joe’s and the lockers.
If the adults in your party plan to stay mostly dry, stake out a chair and hang out. If not, you can rent a locker, or two, at the kiosks located by the lockers.
Attire
Swimwear is a must, but lots of guests choose to wear additional swim shorts and/or swim shirts. Water shoes are not required but are highly recommended.
The ground and walkways get extremely hot, and flip flops cannot be worn on rides or into the pools.
Food and Beverages
Dining options include Avalunch, Polar Pub, and Lottawatta Lodge. Avalunch serves nachos, pretzels, hot dogs, beer and soft drinks.
Polar Pub is a full-service bar. Lottawatta Lodge is a quick service restaurant offering pizza, wraps, hamburgers, wraps, salads, and chicken strips.
Attractions
There are a wide range of attractions and play areas at Blizzard Beach, including Summit Plummet, Tike’s Peak, Toboggan Racers, and Runoff Rapids.
Depending on the ages of your travel party, you may need to divide and conquer if you want to see it all or spend all day floating in the wave pool. Maps are posted all around the park, so take a minute to make a plan.
Tips
- The lazy river goes all the way around the park. Use it for relaxing or getting from place to place. We did it first so we could get acquainted with where everything was.
- Lottawatta Lodge, the quick service restaurant, requires mobile ordering so don’t lock your phone away.
- If the adults in your party plan to stay mostly dry, stake out a chair and hang out instead of renting a locker.
- Teamboat Springs has a single rider type of option for groups of 1-2 that don’t mind riding with another family.
