Let’s See How Construction at the Poly Is Coming Along
Its been a week since we shared with you a look at the progress happening over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort but we’re pleased to be back at this beloved monorail resort today.
We can also report that the construction at the Main Ceremonial House is definitely coming along!
Just last week, the main centerpiece of the porte cochere was hoisted into place.
This week it looks like work is still being carried out to the roofing of the structure.
The same goes for the roof on the second level monorail station!
With work officially finished on the guest rooms, and Disney’s plans to reopen the property next month, the work to the Main Building is all that’s left to be completed in this renovation.
We’re excited about the porte cochere which will add some grandness for guests arriving at the property.
Construction on the porte cochere as well as the above monorail stop has been months in the making.
Progress has definitely been a bit slower than it was with the guest rooms but it looks like we’re turning a corner.
The roof structures on either end of the porte cochere are now in place.
Below is a closer look at the construction of the monorail platform which will provide more space for waiting and security checks for guests heading to the parks.
The monorail is passing through but NOT making stops at the property at the moment.
As we inch ever closer to the end of June, we remain a bit skeptical that everything will be completed to welcome back guests next month.
However, we’ll keep updated weekly!
There does seem to be more work that needs to be done at the monorail station with roofing, guardrails and more that are still to be completed!
However, they are definitely further along with a completed roof than last time!
In addition to the external work, the inside of the Poly’s central hall is also getting a bit of a sprucing up.
Disney has said they’ll be upgrading some of the decorative elements of the property including a new chandelier but have also said their plans will still adhere to the Mid-Century Modern feel of the property.
Shops and eateries in the Main Ceremonial House are still open. Over the past few months we’ve made many a trip to Capt. Cooks or Pineapple Lanai. Ohana also recently made a reopening announcement and then there’s our favorite resort gift shop Bou-tiki!
Above is a look at the work being carried out taken from beneath the monorail tracks.
Last week, cranes were used to move the porte cochere centerpiece into place. It was actually constructed in the adjacent parking lot.
