Extra Fun Things to do at Disney World
Let’s face it, most people come to Walt Disney World to visit the parks. However, did you know there are some extra fun things to do at Disney World without needing a theme park ticket?
Perhaps, on check-in day or a rest day, you want to do some extra activities. Well, here are some ideas!
Water Parks
As you know, Florida gets hot! In fact, even in the winter months, temperatures can hit in the 80s.
Therefore, take your family to a water park! Walt Disney World has two: Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach is home to one of the tallest, fastest free-fall body slides in the world, Summit Plummet. In addition, there is a play area for kids, rapids, and Toboggan Racers.
At Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, your family can have a blast in the largest wave pool, Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. Also, you can enjoy the coaster-like raft ride, enclosed body slides, as well as a water playground for little ones. Please note, Typhoon Lagoon is temporarily unavailable.
For both water parks, you can purchase single-day tickets or upgrade your Park Hopper tickets to the Park Hopper Plus Option. You can Park Hop to the water parks, as well as the theme parks and more, with the Park Hopper Plus Option.
Even though there are lots to do at the water parks, it still can be a relaxing day. Indeed, the best of both worlds!
Dinner Shows
Yes, there are two dinner shows in Walt Disney World. Spirit of Aloha is at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is at the Fort Wilderness campground.
Spirit of Aloha has hula dancing, fire dancing, and an all-you-can-eat tropical feast! Truly, the show enthralls you into the spirit of Polynesia.
Next, head to The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue for some frontier fun! Here, you can enjoy skits, songs, and fried chicken!
Indeed, both of these locations sound amazing. Keep in mind, they both are temporarily unavailable. Hopefully, they will reopen soon!
The Lego Store
At the Lego Store in Disney Springs, you can make a Lego that looks like you! Here’s how!
First, tell the cashier that you want to make a mini-Lego. Next, take your box to the Lego factory (located in the store), and it will walk you through the steps! This is a great souvenir, especially for Lego lovers!
The M&M’s Store
Similarly, you can get M&M’s with your face on them at Disney Springs’ The M&M’s Store! Creatively, this awesome activity allows you to personalize M&M’s, up to four designs.
This M&M’s paradise has all sorts of fun merchandise. Plus, they have M&M’s in all colors and flavors.
The Aerophile
Next, The Aerophile is a hot-air balloon at Disney Springs that ascends 400 feet into the air. This balloon ride lasts about 8 minutes, impressively, and you have 360-degree views of Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, you may even view sights from 10 miles away!
Keep in mind, the Aerophile does not operate if it is too windy. Therefore, tickets can only be purchased at the attraction.
Indeed, there are some spectacular sights from The Aerophile. However, anyone afraid of heights may not want to ride.
The Art Corner
Also located in Disney Springs is The Art Corner. Here, you can create one-of-a-kind caricatures, as well as hand-drawn names embellished with illustrations.
Specifically, you can create your own scarf out of custom-marbled silk. Yes, this is a very unique location to take your family.
The NBA Experience
In Disney Springs, the NBA Experience is a slam dunk for the entire family. Finally, your NBA dreams can come true!
In one location, you can put your basketball skills to the test, quiz yourself on NBA trivia, and enjoy insider NBA access. Honestly, The NBA Experience is a blast, even if you aren’t good at basketball.
Additionally, the Park Hopper Plus Option includes access to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, and miniature golf locations.
Miniature Golf
Speaking of miniature golf, this is another one of the extra fun things to do at Walt Disney World! There are two miniature golf courses on Walt Disney World property: Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens and Fairways.
Winter Summerland is located near Blizzard Beach where you can join Santa and his elves for some golf relaxation. Yes, Santa built this place especially for him and his elves!
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways are themed after the film Fantasia. You will putt around tutu-clad hippos, marching broomsticks, and pirouetting ostriches.
FootGolf
Over at Disney’s Oak Trail, you can play FootGolf. FootGolf is a sport that combines golf and soccer!
This course looks like a regular golf course; however, all the holes are 21 inches in diameter and they can fit a soccer ball. This is a sport in which the youngest player can participate.
Instantly, you have a list of some extra fun things to do at Disney World. Hopefully, you will experience many of them with your family!
