Construction Update: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Yesterday, we popped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort where slow and steady could best describe the construction work currently underway!
For those unfamiliar, the classic Disney Deluxe Resort is undergoing extensive renovations that have seen the guest rooms off-sale to the public.
The images above, (though it’s hard to tell) show the monorail track coming into the Polynesian Resort.
One of the luxuries of staying at the Polynesian is that there is a monorail station on the second floor that can take you to the other monorail resorts (Contemporary or Grand Floridian) as well as the theme parks.
Disney is revamping the second floor station with new security screening points and an updated waiting area.
Along with that, the main arrival area of the resort is getting an update.
We’re told that this will involve a Porte Cochere with a new fountain area among other enhancements.
Earlier in the renovation, the beams of the grand ceremonial hall well removed for the construction and then put back into place.
Work is also being carried out inside near the main reception area. This will include new lighting that will enhance the tropical mid-century modern feel.
Guest rooms are also being updated and will now include Moana theming meaning that this is a property that kids are sure to love.
As we’ve previously report, bookings for the Polynesian are now available from Summer 2020 and can be made by filling out our form below.
At the moment, those visiting Walt Disney World can still drop in for dining and shopping.
We are so excited about the renovations and can’t wait to see the whole project come together.
This is just one of many refurbishment projects underway as Disney World readies for its 50th Anniversary celebrations which are slated to kick off on October 1st.
The celebrations will last an impressive 18 months and the Poly’s cost proximity to the Magic Kingdom makes it an ideal spot to stay!
Some of the rooms at the Polynesian even offer stunning theme park views which you can also get from the white sandy beaches.
This makes it an ideal spot for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the 50th Anniversary fireworks!
Bookings for the Polynesian can currently be made through July of 2022.
