Construction Update: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
MickeyBlog popped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort yesterday where we managed to get a look at the construction work being carried out both at the Main Ceremonial House as well as the buildings housing the guest rooms.
As you can see, construction tents have been set up at various locations around the property.
This is so work can be carried out on the individual guest rooms.
Disney’s guest rooms are being refurbished with Moana-themed touches.
Those visiting the property will notice signage around the property notifying guests of the work being carried out.
Scaffolding has been set up at various locations onsite.
As you can see lifts are being used to take out the old fixtures and replace them with Moana themed updates!
We can’t wait to get a look at the inside of these guest rooms! We are sure they are going to be amazing!
Disney has not given any word as of yet in terms of how long it will take for the refurbishments to be completed.
The Poly is expected to open to guests in the Summer of 2021. At the moment its unclear whether all of the rooms will be completed by that time or if work will continue to be carried while guests are staying.
Next we turn our attention to the Great Ceremonial House which is the main building at the Polynesian Resort.
This is where the bulk of the work is taking place!
The property is getting a brand new porte cochere really wowing guests who pull up to stay on the property.
With this renovation comes a new monorail station platform.
The new station will be enhanced to make it easier for visitors to clear security and board the monorail trains.
The wooden beams you see above are actually one of the striking features of the main building at the Poly.
These beams were actually removed earlier in the renovation and have recently been replaced.
Work will also be carried out in the interior of the main building.
New highlights will include mid-century suspended lights that enhance the tiki-style decor of the property.
At the moment the monorail does still breeze through the property.
However, monorail travel from the property has been temporarily suspended. d
We cannot wait to see the finished product.
The Polynesian has long been one of our favorite properties though I’ve always personally felt that the entrance was a bit lackluster!
However, it seems like Disney WILL be bringing the WOW! factor to this property once again making it a perfect place to stay in 2021 and beyond!
