Ming-Na Wen: Another Reason to Love Her
Ming-Na Wen: Fan First, Fan Always
First off, I should state my obvious bias – I love Ming-Na Wen.
I am not sure why anyone would need to be convinced otherwise. With her star turns in the animated Mulan, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Star Wars via The Mandalorian, Wen is a veritable cultural phenomenon unto herself; she’s an icon.
More than that, she is a self-admitted nerd, who might just be the Queen Nerd for vast swaths of Disney fandom.
And, while Wen remains as self-effacing as ever, her wonderful countenance keeps Ming-Na Wen high among everyone’s list for favorite actor.
However, there are hints that she remains as big a fan of her chosen genres as ever and a really nice person, to boot.
For example, this interaction with Mark Hamill – Luke Skywalker, himself:
You (& Luke) have been immensely inspirational & impactful to my childhood & as an adult. To have shared a scene with you in @themandalorian is truly one of the biggest highlight, not just in my career, but in my life. Thank you. 😍❤️
Your fan always,

I’ve reached nerd nirvana.
Gotta say, this Is WAY cooler than the time Steven Tyler spilled red wine on my arm and wiped it off with cocktail napkins at a party. 😏🧡
Sorry, @IamStevenT. 😁 https://t.co/7m9MJN3agj

So, it seems fair to say that Wen understands that “moment” of recognition between fan and celebrity.
Case in point, a situation described by Todd Black of AnimeSuperHero.com:
You see, in the final season of Agents of Shield, Ming-Na Wen got to interact with actress Dianne Doan, who played co-star Chloe Bennett’s sister in the show. However, the real connection here is that Doan played Mulan’s daughter in the equally-beloved Disney movie The Descendants. So went they met in real-life, it was kind of a “mother-daughter moment”.
A fan asked if they talked about their “connection” and this lovely Twitter conversation occurred:
Awww, love you, Dianne! You were an absolute joy! Mulan & Shang would definitely have a sweet girl like Lonnie. 😘 https://t.co/S2Sc4pPtxl

How. Cool. Is. That?
And, can anyone wait to see Fennec Shand return in the Book of Boba Fett?
Me neither.
