‘Soul’ Takes Home Best Original Score at Golden Globes
The Golden Globes awards have returned this Sunday to reward some of the best films to be released in the past year. Despite a slow year for the cinema, however, with the streaming service of Disney+, Pixar was able to release two films: Onward and Soul.
It seems as though sending these two movies straight to the streaming service paid off, as Soul has taken home the Golden Globe for Best Original Score.

The score, created by the trio of Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste, beat out Reznor and Ross’ competing work on Mank, Alexandre Desplat’s work on The Midnight Sky, Ludwig Goransson’s work on Tenet, and James Newton Howards work on News of the World.
The duo of Reznor and Ross are no stranger to awards season, as both have been recognized for their tremendous work in the area of film scoring in the past.
The duo has won an Academy Award for the work in 2010’s The Social Network, and a Grammy Award for their work on 2013’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
John Batiste, the third member of the now Golden Globe-winning trio, is known best for being the musical director of the band Stay Human; the musical act that appears nightly on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Music Director of The Atlantic and creative director for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, Batiste was crucial to the success of the music of Soul due, in large part, to his vast experience within the genre, and his vital perspective to the world that the characters inhabit.
Soul was one of the top animated films of the year, as the story of Joe Gardner, voiced by Jamie Foxx, and his journey within the film have touched audience members and critics alike.
Disney fans can catch the now Golden Globe-winning film exclusively on Disney+.
