Frances McDormand’s Latest Film ‘Nomadland’ Is Premiering on Hulu
Nomadland the latest film from Chloe Zhao and starring Frances McDormand is already generating Oscar buzz and it looks like its heading from a Hulu/Cinema hybrid release according to a recent piece in The Hollywood Reporter. The announcement was made by Searchlight Pictures on Tuesday which is owned by Disney (as is Hulu.)
The film will be available to stream beginning on February 19th but will first get an exclusive run on Imax theaters beginning on January 29th.
This is the first Searchlight film to confirm a hybrid release in 2021 which is notable because it’s such a high-profile release going into awards season. The film won both the Venice Film International Film Festivals Golden Lion and the Toronto International Film Festival’s People’s Choice Audience Award.
You can check out the official trailer below:
The film was shot on location across five states in the American West. As THR tells us it the sweeping vistas found shot for the film are part of IMAX’s Digital Media Remastering process bringing more clarity and precision audio to what is a modern-day road movie.
Hulu, which we found out during a recent investors call has more than 38 million subscribers in the US is the sister brand to Disney+ and offers more of the company’s adult offerings from brands like 20th Century, FX, and Searchlight.
We can’t wait to see this film and will be following this story closely. Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for further news and updates!
