ESPN Presents Muppet Night Football!
Monday Night Football will take on an even more “Muppetacular” tone tonight as ESPN readies for “Muppet Night Football.”
Earlier today, Kermit the Frog posted on Disney Parks Blog:
Hi ho, Kermit the Frog here.
To spread cheer and bring the Muppet and NFL families together, we asked our friends at ESPN if we could help them out with the game tonight. And after a few moments consideration – and some extremely persuasive 2×4 board-breaking from Miss Piggy – they said yes!
Get Ready for The Muppets on @ESPN, starting at 8 PM ET! Tonight’s @NFL game is going to start off with one of the most unusual – and holiday cheerful – openings in the history of MNF, so tune in! For more details: https://t.co/4LEVlVgx61 pic.twitter.com/SwYguCXwpr

So tonight, I’ll be joined by Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Statler, Waldorf and Animal as we execute our Muppet game plan – sure to get you ready for kickoff. And we’ll even be back with more fun throughout the game. Make sure you are ready right at 8 p.m. ET!
One more thing: ESPN is even changing their name to make us feel a bit more welcome – Monday Night Football is Muppet Night Football tonight.
Kermit also explained that the experts would still be in charge for the game, and Steve Levy, Brian Griese, Louis Riddick and Lisa Salters would be doing their thing.
However, as a holiday hors d’oeuvre, Muppet Night Football (on Monday Night Football) is pretty great!

And, as for what we’re going to see – well, there’s clearly some Muppet magic coming.
ESPN.com front row posted:
“Looking at the faces on the first Muppets/CCU Zoom call, everybody was smiling and laughing,” McGlone recalled. “I was like, ‘This is what we want for our viewers!’ We want the whole family to be enjoying it.”
Soon after the initial meeting, manager Amanda Paschal and team planned a 2020-style production shoot.
Instead of traveling to a studio, everyone set up shop at home, including the Muppets, who have become adept at having the puppeteers record themselves on green screens in their homes with help from their families.”
Finally, Kermit added:
If you want to find out why Statler is a Bengals fan and Waldorf cheers on the Steelers, be there! We hope you’ll join us – 8 p.m. ET on ESPN!
