More Guardians of the Galaxy is On The Horizon But Not In A Way You’re Expecting
Yesterday during Disney’s Investors Day webcast there was a whole slew of Guardians of the Galaxy news and in classic Guardians fashion its not entirely what we were expecting.
If you’ve been following along with the Guardians saga, you know that there’s been some ups and downs! Back in 2018 writer/director James Gunn was fired from the franchise before eventually being rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. However, the whole ordeal and the fact that Gunn ended up taking on the new Suicide Squad film for Warner Brothers ended up throwing the Guardians schedule out of whack. As a result, we haven’t see too much from Star-Lord, Gamora and the rest of the gang as of late!
But that doesn’t mean Disney doesn’t have big plans for them.

Kevin Feige made some big Marvel announcements during the call yesterday where it was revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will arrive in theaters but not until 2023. However, Gunn is working on a couple of side projects for the franchise to tide fans over. Like…yup, a Guardians Holiday Special!?
Though not much was revealed about the project other than the title. It does appear the the special will be ready to go for Christmas 2022?
Everyone’s favorite little tree, Baby Groot, will star in a series of shorts on Disney+, featuring several new and unusual characters.

In addition, as you can see from the tweet above, Baby Groot will soon be the star of his very own Disney+ series that will feature shorts based on his galactic adventures.
So all in all its good news! Though a major Guardians of the Galaxy release is still a few years off, Disney and Marvel are still giving us plenty to keep fans excited! And let’s not forget the opening of the new Guardians of the Galaxy-themed indoor coaster currently under construction. For more news on that story check out our recent update here.
