Bob Iger Said He’d Consider A Position With The Biden Administration
Could Bob Iger be setting his sights on the World of politics? There’s been murmurings of his political aspirations for a while now but according to a recent post with Bloomberg is becoming a bit more vocal about it!
During a recent interview the former Disney CEO said that he WOULD consider a role in the upcoming administration should the right opportunity present itself.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Iger said, “Giving back in some fashion — serving our country in some fashion — is certainly something that I would consider seriously.” He added, “But a lot of it would depend on what it is, what the opportunity is, and whether I thought it would be something that I would both be stimulated by and be good at.”
As of going to print, Igers name hasn’t come up among the list of Bidens suspected nominees. As Bloomberg points out, its also unlikely that we’d see him step down just now as Disney Chairman with the company in financial dire straits due to the impact COVID-19 has had on the theme park and entertainment industries.
However, it should be noted that Iger officially stepped down as CEO of The Walt Disney Company back in February when he handed over the reigns to Bob Chapek. He is expected to step away from his role as Chairman by December of 2021 meaning that a shift into public service or politics might not be that far away.
Iger seemed to back this up in the interview saying he “had some feelers” from private equity firms looking to bring him on board but not made any decisions yet regarding his next move. He said, “There’s a whole world out there, and I still have a lot of energy and a huge amount of curiosity.”

Iger isn’t hiding the fact that he had previously pondered running for POTUS. However, instead he stayed on with Disney to steer the course when it came to Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox as well as the launch of the Disney+ streaming network.
So is Iger still setting his sights on the presidency? Maybe. “You don’t consider running for president without being a true idealist,” Iger said. “It takes a lot of idealism to generate the emotional energy and probably the physical energy, too, to do something like that, to even think that it’s possible. But at some point, realism sets in as well, and must set in.”

However, considering that he was planning to run as a Democrat, Iger says perhaps the time isn’t right for the party to embrace a businessman as candidate. “I was seriously considering it,” Iger said. “But I’m not sure I would have gotten as far as actually running. I was starting to think more and more about how difficult the path might be in the Democratic Party for a businessman to actually get the nomination.”
It should however be noted that Iger was a sizable contributor to Biden’s election campaign and though cabinet positions are quickly being filled it may not be the last we’ve written about Iger and politics!
