Florida Man High On LSD Attacks Animal Kingdom Security Guard
A 19 year old Pompano Beach man in an apparent drug-induced rage, attacked a Disney security guard at DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom last month. This is according to a recent piece in the Orlando Sentinel and arrest reports by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
James Arvid (pictured below) was arrested and charged with battery of a security guard. This is a third-degree felony. The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Speaking out about the arrest, Erica Ettori a spokeswoman for Disney said, “We do not tolerate violence of any kind on our property and appreciate those, including the Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who quickly came to the aid of this cast member.” According to the report, the scene happened in the middle of the afternoon on October 25.
The 41 year old security guard was apparently patrolling in DinoLand when Arvid tackled him from behind. The suspect then apparently put the guard in a headlock and held him down but the security guard was able to radio for help. Theme park guests in the area also came to the rescue and pulled Arvid off the guard and managed to restrain him until law enforcement could take over.
The guard was not seriously hurt and reported a few cuts to his elbow. No guests were hurt in the incident.
Deputies on the scene described Arvid as “bloody, sweating profusely, non-responsive to commands, and compulsively kicking his legs.” The sheriff’s report said, “It appeared James was in a state of excited delirium and unexpected strength,” the sheriff’s report said.
He was restrained on a stretcher and taken to a hospital in Celebration. Once at the hospital he reportedly told the nurse, “I took LSD and tried to kill someone.” According to a doctor in the emergency room Arvid showed signs of heatstroke, being drunk and drug use.
