BREAKING NEWS: Walt Disney World Theme Park Attendance Up to 35% Says Bob Chapek
Going into the Holiday Season, a question that many Disney fans were wondering is whether Walt Disney World will increase attendance for the remainder of 2020. According to comments made by Disney CEO Bob Chapek during a Q4 earnings call this afternoon the answer is YES!
Chapek said in the call that because of the success of safety measures that have implemented at the parks including social distancing, increased sanitation procedures, temperature checks, plexiglass dividers on rides and attractions and a move toward a cashless payment system, attendance can now be raised to 35%!
For those following along with MickeyBlog, you’ll know that when Walt Disney World reopened its theme parks back in July attendance was capped at 25%. Chapek was asked about attendance again last month and advised that capacity remained at 25% despite Florida moving to a Phase 3 reopening this Fall.
However, with Christmas festivities in full swing, Disney has now opted to increase attendance by an additional 10%. Though guests visiting in November and December may feel a slight increase in crowd levels, it should still be noted that crowds will still be 65% less than they were last year. This means that queues for many of Disney’s much-loved attractions should still be significantly lower than in years past.
