According To Union Unite Here! Local 362 Part Time Attraction Or Custodial Staff May Not Lose Their Jobs at Disney World
Ever since Disney first announced that they would be laying off nearly 28,000 across Disney’s domestic theme parks, there has been much speculation about who was being let go. The largest group was expected to be part time and seasonal cast members. However, according to a local workers union, this isn’t necessarily the case.
Local Union Unite Here 262 recently took to Facebook to offer reassurances that those members working in attractions and custodial services would not be impacted by the layoffs. This news applies even those that are working part- time. Check out the official post here:

As you can see from the post above, Disney informed the union earlier today (October 22nd) that as a result of the full-time displacement process, no Part-Time Attractions and Custodial workers will be laid off.
This spells good news for many cast members at Walt Disney World Resort. However, layoffs are still expected to happen in other departments as well as at Disney World and also at Disney Cruise Line. You can see Disney Chairman Josh D’Amaro announcing the layoffs below in a post that came out last month:
A huge catalyst for the decision to let employees go has to do with the fact that Disneyland in California remains closed. The Governor of the State of California, Gavin Newsom released a reopening plan for the theme parks which stunned many with its slow approach. As a result, many fear that Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will remain closed through the duration of 2020.
Whether this will have an additional impact on employment has yet to be announced. This is a story that we are paying close attention to. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for further news and updates!
