Things are moving in the right direction for the $3 billion expansion to Tokyo Disneyland. The New Fantasyland will feature two new rides, “The Happy Ride with Baymax” and “The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast”. The September 28th opening of The New Fantasyland, including the new Beauty and the Beast ride, is a welcome magical moment after the park was closed for months due to COVID-19. The rest of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea reopened back in July.
“The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast” is a trackless ride, similar to Alien Swirling Saucers at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The teacups carry 10 guests and the ride lasts about 8 minutes. WDWNT.com had a first look at some of the details of the ride.
An official description of the ride:
Aboard enchanted cups that move and turn as if they are alive, guests travel through various scenes to experience the world of the film. There’s the banquet where they “dance” together with the dishes and cutlery to Lumiere’s singing; the snow-covered garden where they glide over the ice as Belle and the Beast find themselves growing closer”. (Oriental Land Company)
The ride includes a trip through the dinner scene with Lumiere singing “Be Our Guest”, the snow scene where Beauty begins to accept Beast and of course the enchanted castle with its enchanted inhabitants. Here is a look of the Belle animatronic from a 2018 Tokyo Disneyland video.
The crown jewel of The New Fantasyland in Tokyo Disneyland is Beast’s castle. The amazing structure soars over 100 feet in the air.
We are excited to see the guests reviews of “The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast” when the ride, and Fantasyland, open on September 28th.
