The Canopy Is Going Up For The Magic Kingdom’s TRON Coaster
Yesterday we here at MickeyBlog shared with you a VERY important milestone! The crew from Walt Disney Imagineering installed the first canopy of what we’ll sure will be one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic attractions – TRON Lightcycle/Run in Tomorrowland!
Imagineer Zach Riddley shared some awesome images of the pieces falling into place for this incredible undertaking. Let’s take a look.
As you can see from Zach’s comments, the canopy for the TRON coaster will be made up of over 40 separate pieces that will form a dramatic “curved wave” canopy. It even has an official name – the Upload Conduit. Each section of this stunning canopy is assembled before it is installed. This includes the alignment of the steel welding, grinding some painting and also electric work!
We here at MickeyBlog are so excited about watching the pieces fall into place over the coming weeks and months! To give you a closer look at the work being carried out Zach also shared a video which we’ve posted below:
According to Zach, this canopy will be a massive, awe-inspiring structure that flows organically over you as you race beneath it aboard your Lightcycle. It serves as a digital bridge between worlds as you transition into The Grid. Dynamic stripes of lights will follow along the canopy creating stunning visuals for riders and spectators alike!
TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to open at Magic Kingdom Park in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021
