The auction, scheduled to be held on August 15th and 16th in Sherman Oaks, California, is focused on vintage Disneyland items, but also will contain many memorabilia from Walt Disney World. The trash can is a full size can from the Polynesian and the auction company expects it will bring between $2,000 and $3,000.
The auction will also have up for purchase an original sign from Disneyland’s Don DeFore’s Silver Banjo Barbeque. The Barbeque is an opening day restaurant at Disneyland in California. The sign is expected to bring between $60,000 and $80,000 at auction.
Also according to the Orlando Sentinel, the auction house will have a gold VIP ticket to Disneyland’s opening day in 1955, an original Space Mountain ride vehicle, a Haunted Mansion tombstone prop and a rifle from the Main Street Shooting Gallery.
Walt Disney World auction items include the trash can, an Epcot preview book created for President Jimmy Carter ($2,000-$4,000) and a poster for the “coming soon” Mickey’s PhilharMagic attraction ($3,000-$5,000).
Other items up for auction include costumes from the Walt Disney World Marching Band, uniforms from EPCOT’s Soarin’, The Tower of Terror and doormats from the Grand Floridan and Contemporary Resorts.
