Directors Have Been Announced for Marvel’s ‘Hawkeye’ Series Coming to Disney+
It looks like the Hawkeye series slated for Disney+ is gaining momentum. According to a recent piece in The Hollywood Reporter, a couple of directors have already been lined up for the film.
Bert and Bertie otherwise known as Amber Finlayson (Bert) and Katie Ellwood (Bertie) best known for Amazon’s Troop Zero, have been recruited to direct a block of episodes for the news Marvel Studio series slated for Disney’s streaming network. Bert and Bernie made their debut with 2016’s Dance Camp, then followed it up with Troop Zero, which made a splash at 2019’s Sundance Film Festival where Amazon snapped it up. Colorful and energetic tones have been a signature of their work, as has snappy relationships. The duo have also directed episodes of Hulu’s buzzy period show, The Great, starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult.
According to reports Rhys Thomas best known for his work with Saturday Night Live and Staten Island Summer will apparently be taking on director duties for an episode or two as well.
As we previously reported her at MickeyBlog, Jeremy Renner who played the role in the big screen films will be back as Clint Barton. One of the arcs that is rumored to be in the series centers around Barton’s mentoring of a new generation of archer- Kate Bishop. Rumors have been swirling about Hailee Steinfeld taking on the role but nothing has been confirmed by Disney+. Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Pitch) is penning the series.
Hawkeye is the part of the first wave of Marvel shows that was due to hit Disney+ beginning this Fall. The first show out of the gates was expected to be The Falcon and the Winter Soldier however that series has been delayed due to theming restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Other shows in the works include WandaVision (expected to come out in Spring of 2021) and Loki also due out at the same time.
During previous D23 conventions, Marvel head Kevin Feige has also said that She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight projects are also in the works.
