New ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘The Acolyte’ Finally Gets A Release Window
Of all the upcoming Star Wars projects, there may not be a release that I am more excited about than The Acolyte.
Set at the end of the High Republic era, the show will be the first Star Wars property to feature a Sith as the lead character.
What We Know
The show will star Amandla Stenberg as a former Jedi padawan who has fallen to the dark side. The series will be set 100 years before Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.
Ever since the series was announced in December 2020, anticipation has been building. Now, thanks to Disney CEO Bob Iger, we have a release window for the series.
When Will The Show Be Released
At the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference last week, Bob Iger was asked about the future of Star Wars. While discussing the franchise’s upcoming releases, Iger gave some insight into The Acolyte.
“Just last night, I got a clip of a Star Wars series that’s going to air on Disney+ in 2024 called The Acolyte. It looks brilliant. Television series is working for [Lucasfilm],” he said.
A Jam-Packed Release
A 2024 release makes a lot of sense for The Acolyte. Disney+ will be chock full of new Star Wars releases in 2023.
In addition to the currently airing Season 3 of The Mandalorian, the streaming service is also set to premiere Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew this year.
Star Wars fans who are excited for The Acolyte may be getting more news soon. With Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 just around the corner, it is possible that we will get a more specific release date shortly.
