Star Wars: Dave Filoni Says, “Thank You….”
Hope is a big deal in Star Wars. And I’m guessing everyone could use a little extra hope these days.
So, I give you a look back at several of Dave Filoni’s drawings. He’s the most hopeful Star Wars creative I follow.
All the sketches include Ahsoka Tano. And all of them give us — of course — hope.
Ahsoka = Hope
I love that Filoni thought to give us all a gift on his birthday.
And, in so doing, added a powerful message to everyone.
Have a look at today’s post:

Note the message above Ahsoka. A poignantly simple message. A strong message: “In my life when you find people who need your help you help them, no matter what.”

The Clone Wars Concludes
Another “Thank You….” below.
This time we see the close of the circle:

Pictured above is Ahsoka leaving her lightsaber behind to join Captain Rex; the end of an era.
And the end of The Clone Wars.
Just before that post is (perhaps) the most anticipated moment of the entire animated series, Order 66; the sequence when Ahsoka stares down Captain Rex.
A scene that blew me away in its refusal to take either character to the darkest timeline.

Was That Ahsoka?
And finally, the below is — perhaps — my favorite of Dave’s sketches.
Combining Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings) and Ahsoka (Star Wars), we enjoy two of the most hopeful characters in all of pop culture.
However, it answers everyone who correctly believes they heard Ahsoka talking to Rey as she faced down death and the Emperor.
“I think that means Ahsoka’s dead, right?”
Was thinking of all of you this fine morning, Happy Holidays!

The prior December; from Gandalf the Gray to Ahsoka the White.
Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And thought I oft have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the moon, East of the Sun.

As Dave would say, “Ahsoka Lives!” And so does “Hope.”
Happy Birthday, Mr. Filoni!
