Universal Studios Orlando opened its gates this week, and many guests have been impressed with the success of opening day. Now, Universal Studios Japan will be opening in just a matter of days! On June 8th, the Japanese parks will hold a soft opening for annual pass holders residing in Osaka.
Guests will be required to observe similar guidelines to those in the US theme parks. According to an article from SoraNews24, this includes mask-wearing, hand sanitizer use, social distancing, and temperature checks. The park has been closed since late February due to the Coronavirus.
When Will USJ Open to the Public?
Universal Studios Japan has issued the following statement regarding when they will open to the public:
“Universal Studios Japan has been temporarily closed since February 29 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Japan. However, the park will resume general operations on June 19, 2020 (Fri). This comes as Japan lifts its state of emergency and call for the closure of large-scale facilities. And, as part of our effort to reopen the park in a slow and deliberate manner, we will have a “Soft Opening” June 8 (Mon) – June 17 (Thur).”
The video below gives guidelines for visiting when the park reopens:
The Osaka COVID-19 Tracing System
“The health and safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. As such, we are reopening the park in phases to allow for capacity control. Further, we have adopted enhanced sanitation measures based on guidance from health care authorities and medical experts. These measures are in strict coherence with the “Themepark Infection Prevention Guidelines” and are informed by the current situation both in Japan and abroad. Further, our park is supported by the OSAKA COVID-19 Tracing System. This system was designed by Osaka Prefecture to help prevent the spread of infection. We ask that guests register for this system with a QR Code before entering the park or when eating at one of our restaurants.”
This system will help track exposures to COVID-19 by having guests scan a QR code on their phone. The Tokyo Disney parks have still not announced an opening date. View the video below to see an exciting clip of how Universal Studios Japan is preparing to welcome guests back!
