Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Stay Closed Until Mid-May or Beyond
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have announced that due to the increasing spread of COVID-19, the reopening date will not be determined until mid-May or after. Reopening was originally planned for April 20 or beyond.
The statement reads:
The temporary closures of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have been extended in light of the increasing spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and in response to the requests from the Japanese government and local authorities.
The reopening of the Parks, which had been planned for April 20 or beyond, has been extended further. The reopening date will be determined in mid-May, after which a new announcement will be sent out. Additionally, the opening of the Tokyo Disneyland Expansion new area will be determined and announced once the Parks have reopened.
Both of Tokyo Disney’s parks initially closed on February 29th and were initially set to re-open on March 15th. However, this was extended until early April. The recent update closes the parks indefinitely through May.
As of going to print, we’re being told that unused theme park tickets can be used as a later date and annual passes have been extended. Hotel reservations can be cancelled.
