Is Walt Disney World Only Opening Deluxe & Deluxe Villa Resorts Upon Reopening?
As Walt Disney World sets to reopen, there are things we know and many things we still don’t know. What we do know is that Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom are scheduled to reopen on July 11 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT is set to reopen on July 15. We also know that Disney’s DVC/Deluxe Villa Resorts will open to DVC Members on June 22 along with Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. One big question we still don’t know though is when will the rest of the Resort Hotels open and what Resort Hotels will open.

However, we think we have some insight into what Walt Disney World Resort Hotels will be open first when the Parks start reopening. The Facebook Group Orlando Hotel and Restaurant Workers Movement has posted a list of locations that has recalled Cast Members to come back to work beginning on June 14. The list includes Housekeeping Cast Members at Deluxe and DVC/Deluxe Villa Resort Hotels only leading us to ponder if only these Hotels will open when the Parks reopen.
The list of Deluxe and DVC/Deluxe Villa Resort includes:
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campsites
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Disney’s Yacht Club
- Disney’s Beach Club

Since this list contains three DVC/Deluxe Villa Resorts, Old Key West, Riviera Resort, and the Polynesian, I also feel that all of these Deluxe Villa Resorts will have their DVC/Deluxe Villa Resorts listed below open as well. DVC Members would have first dibs on these rooms but what’s remaining would most likely be available to the general public and/or those who are already booked.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
- Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
- Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Cooper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Disney’s Beach Club Villas

So, what does this mean if you already have a vacation booked when the Parks reopen but at a value or moderate resort? Unfortunately, I do not know yet at this time. There is a lot of speculation out there including that those who are currently at a value or moderate resort will be upgraded to a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resort. Whether this upgrade would be complimentary or would the Guest have to pay the difference remains to be seen.

This all remains to be a fluid situation and Walt Disney World has not yet confirmed that only the Deluxe and Deluxe Villas Resorts will be the only Resort Hotels open once the Parks reopen. Keep following along with us a MickeyBlog.com for all the latest.
