Demi Lovato Recalls Growing Up Disney In New Podcast Interview
Fans of Demi Lovato will definitely want to check out the podcast In Bed With Nick and Megan that debuted on Sunday (May 24th). The pop star opened up about what life was like as a Disney Channel star in the mid-to-late 2000s. As you know many of her peers at the time were Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers!
Demi told hosts, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, “We grew up on Disney Channel around the same age…Miley Cyrus, Selena [Gomez], Jonas Brothers, all of them, and even the cast of High School Musical, all of that. Everybody was kind of growing up together.”
She spoke of her relationships with other Disney stars at that time, “It was this really small group of kids that we really couldn’t relate to a lot of people, so we kind of stuck together. We called it ‘Disney High’ because when there’s only a select few of you that can relate to one another, you start dating each other, you become friends with one another, you fall out with one another and then you break up with one another…It’s just confusing and dramatic, and that’s ‘Disney High’ for you.”
Lavato has seemingly been doing a lot of reminiscing as of late! As Billboard notes, during her may cover story for Harper’s Baazar, the singer revealed that while she and Selena Gomez were once very close and that she dated Joe Jonas the only Disney alumni she currently keeps in touch with is Miley Cyrus. She said of the former Hannah Montana star, “She’s awesome, and I love her to death and always will, always have. But I think she’s kind of the only one from that era that I still stay in touch with.”
Later on in the episode, Lovato talked about meeting Justin Bieber at the start of their careers, her love for the Bachelor, the coronavirus pandemic and her mental health advocacy work.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Lovato also recently took part in a Sonny With a Chance reunion on ZOOM. where she reunited with the cast members and talked about her past of going in and out of rehab.
