7 New Things We’ve Learned About “Thor: Love and Thunder”
Okay, so we have just under two years before “Thor: Love and Thunder” hits theaters but our excitement is already at fever pitch. This is partly due to the fact that director Taika Waititi did a Q&A this week during an online screening of “Thor: Ragnarok” this week. He was joined by both Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk).
Before the film, he took time to answer some pressing questions about what fans can expect from the upcoming film. With that in mind we (with a little help from Good Morning America) have rustled up a few new facts about “Love and Thunder” that you’ll want to know!

Tomorrow (Thursday April 9). INSTAGRAM LIVE. I'll be talking about this movie while it plays in the background. Also I tricked at least one special guest to join (they aren't in the movie). It's going to be EPIC!!!(ally boring). Check in tomorrow morning for the start time (spoiler it's 4pm PST). Also I spent 3 minutes drawing this flyer and that is not wine, it's tears of BLOOD. #ThorRagnarok #LiveScreeningParty
“Love and Thunder” picks up after the events of “Avengers: Endgame” and while it will feature Hemsworth as the God of Thunder — it introduces a female Thor, with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster picking up the hammer for that role. Also, Thompson’s Valkyrie, the new leader of the Asgardians, will be searching for her queen, confirming she is an LGBTQ hero.
No Silver Surfer
This has been an area of much speculation amongst Marvel fans but it looks like Silver Surfer won’t be making his debut in “Love and Thunder” according to the director.
Waititi confirmed that he WILL be bringing back Korg, in “Love and Thunder.” Tessa Thompson teased Waititi asking whether or not Korg will have a love interest in the next film, given the movie’s title. He answered no because Korg was “deeply in love and lost that love along the line” and “he doesn’t feel brave enough to find love again.”
Miek With A Makeover.
Waititi confirmed some interesting facts about Miek during the Q&A. Could this character get a makeover? Is Miek female? Could she be wearing a pencil shirt in the next film! Sound outlandish? We’ll you’ll need to see the film to find out.
No More Fat Thor
Waititi said he hasn’t figured out yet whether or not Thor will have trimmed up for “Love and Thunder” but seemed a bit bored of the idea saying, “But I feel like we’ve seen that, haven’t we?” he asked.
There Is a Script!
It was Tessa Thompson that revealed during the Q&A that there is a script for the film. Waititi advised that there have already been “four or five drafts.” It’s still early stages and filming has yet to begin on the project.
“Love and Thunder” Will Be Over The Top
We find it impossible to top “Ragnarok” but Waititi is promising a film more “over-the-top” than the first. To quote the director, the next installment is so over the top in the very best way.” He added: “It’s like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing.”
There Will Be “Space Sharks.”
Just take a minute to let that all sink in. We’ll wait! Waititi confirmed that there will be space sharks in “Thor 4” which means Marvel fans may be getting a film with the Starsharks! Pretty cool eh!?
