VIDEO: Disneyland Honored With SEAL Sustainability Award
Congratulations Disneyland resort for winning the 2019 SEAL Business Sustainability Award for the theme park’s ongoing commitment to water conservation and the use of technologies to make water use more efficient.
Some of the ways that Disneyland reduces water usage includes: planting water-savvy plants, using water-saving devices (like weather-based) irrigation controllers) and through proficient teamwork!
When it comes to water-savvy plants, a great example can be found at Frontierland’s Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. Around the hacienda-style eatery, you’ll find plants like Echeveria and Russelia.
Another example is the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage where a landscape is created to make guests feel as if you are in an ocean habitat. This includes the use of water-savvy plants like Crassula ovata and Phoenix reclinata.
Throughout each land, you’ll find examples like the two listed above. The awesome thing about a lot of the greenery you’ll find around Disneyland is that not only are they beautiful to look add but they have low environmental impact!
This culminates in awesome advancements when it comes to sustainability. For example, the resort consumes less water than it did a decade ago even though both parks have expanded and are more popular than ever. This accomplishment is due large and in part to Disneyland Resort’s Horticulture team!
