Unboxing Your MagicBand Delivery
Hi everyone! Today I wanted to talk you about what to expect when your MagicBands are delivered to your home. For many of us, this is when the excitement really begins. MagicBands are the first tangible signs of what’s to come and it sets the tone of all the magic that’s about to begin.
First let’s start with an overview. MagicBands are colorful, waterproof wristbands—resembling a watch or bracelet—that you can quickly and easily touch to a sensor called a touch point. You can use your MagicBand or card to:
- Unlock the door of your Disney Resort hotel room.
- Enter theme and water parks (with valid admission).
- Check in at FastPass+ entrances.
- Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account.
- Charge food and merchandise purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room (only available during your hotel stay).
You will automatically receive a MagicBand if you stay at a Disney Resort hotel or if you are a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort hotel and are not a Passholder, you will receive a plastic card instead when you purchase tickets for park admission.
I’m going to skip the tutorial on how to customize and order your MagicBand and go straight to the delivery part of our story. If your family has selected solid-color MagicBands (no theming) then these MagicBands are complimentary. Disney doesn’t start processing them until 30 days prior to your check-in. After that 30th day, they enter the “Fulfillment Stage” which is when Disney prepares them for shipping and adds your customized name to the MagicBands which generally takes 2-3 days. Once they are shipped it should take 7-10 business days to arrive to your home. After they have shipped, you should see a tracking number displayed on your My Disney Experience account to give you a more precise arrival day.
I know that there are a lot of us out there who want to surprise our families with a Walt Disney World vacation and we don’t want this delivery to ruin the big reveal. I’m here to set your mind at ease. The box that they are delivered in is a very non-descript white box. Here is a video displaying all six sides…

There is no indication that this is from Disney. Even the return address reads “Experience Connection Center”
There is a white pull tab along the side that allows for easy opening.
After the box is opened we get our first glimpse of that wonderful Walt Disney World logo! In this particular order we have 2 MagicBands contained inside. The purple on on the right is one of the complimentary solid-color options that are available. The blue Magic Kingdom themed MagicBand on the left is an upgraded option. These upgraded MagicBands are available for an additional cost. The good news is that purchasing them through your My Disney Experience account gives you a $14.99 discount over the retail price.
The MagicBands are attached to a “sleeve” that can be removed from the shipping box. The sleeve displays the names that are also customized on the inside of the MagicBands themselves.
After the sleeve is removed you’ll find the packing slip sitting underneath.
This also gives additional information if a return needs to be made.
But we aren’t done yet! The right side of the box contains complimentary Luggage Tags. (Photo above has the box turned around)
They are plastic cards that can be attached to your suitcases so they can be identified by the airlines during travel. The design of luggage tags that you receive correlate to the color/type of MagicBand you choose.
These should NOT be confused with the Magical Express luggage tags that are sent separately to your home. Magical Express luggage tags are actually more like stickers that can be attached to your suitcase handles so that Disney can identify them easily when they arrive at the Orlando Airport.
Let’s go back to the MagicBand sleeve for just a moment. Opening one end of the sleeve will reveal the plastic bands stored inside that can be used to attach the luggage tags described above.
Moving over to the left side of the box we find a lot more!
Also included in your MagicBand delivery we find your Magical Extras Card plus complimentary vouchers for a selection of Walt Disney World experiences.
The Magical Extras Card includes a variety of discounts on dining, entertainment, shopping and more. You can review the full list of discounts by clicking here.
There are also vouchers that include admission for four to ESPN Wide World of Sports and also four rounds of miniature golf at one of Walt Disney World’s two miniature golf courses. Please note that Magical Extras are only included when you book a Walt Disney World vacation package.
