Looking Forward To Avengers Campus at DCA
There’s been quite a bit of news recently about the Avengers Campus coming to Disneyland Resort. And, thanks to some new posts by media in Anaheim, anticipation for “Marvel Land” in Disney California Adventure is at a crescendo.
The OCRegister.com’s Brady MacDonald recently spoke to DCA vice president Patrick Finnegan and asked about Marvel’s new entry into Disney Parks:
“Avengers Campus really is going to blow people away,” Disney California Adventure vice president Patrick Finnegan said.
Finnegan revealed new details about the Marvel-themed Avengers Campus set to debut this summer at the Anaheim theme park…
The first phase of Avengers Campus will open with a Spider-Man attraction, Doctor Strange show, Ant-Man and the Wasp restaurant and Marvel character rooftop stunt show. A second phase will open on an unannounced date with an Avengers E-ticket attraction.
Other details reported by MacDonald include:
- The existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout indoor drop tower ride will serve as the anchor for the new Avengers Campus.
- A high-flying Spider-Man autonomous “stuntronic” robot is expected to swing by a web and perform midair acrobatic feats over Avengers Campus.
- Riders on the new Spider-Man attraction coming to Avengers Campus will use hand gestures to sling virtual webs from Web Slinger ride vehicles at escaped spider-bots that have run amok.
- Doctor Strange will host an outdoor stage show in Avengers Campus that is expected to use special effects and projections to simulate his Sanctum Sanctorum.
- The new land’s Pym Test Kitchen themed to Ant-Man and the Wasp, will serve food that has been shrunk or expanded in size. The foods will be resized using Pym Particles, the same technology used to shrink Ant-Man and the Wasp, according to the backstory for the restaurant. Red Pym Particles shrink items while blue ones expand them.
And as for the new E-ticket attraction, which features a ride system that simulates a flight over Wakanda?
“That is the next big one,” Finnegan said to The OCR. “We haven’t announced timing or a whole lot of detail.”
I can’t wait for Mr. MacDonald’s next report and a whole lot of detail.
