Epilepsy Awareness Event to be Held at Disney World
The third annual “Purple Day for Epilepsy Awareness Around the World” is being held on March 1, 2020 at Walt Disney World. This event will feature an expo held at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and will ultimately conclude with a special lighting of Spaceship Earth at Epcot. Be sure to wear something purple, and come support this great cause!
What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a condition that causes seizures. It reportedly affects an estimated 50 million people worldwide. This event will be the first epilepsy awareness event held at Disney since the untimely passing of Cameron Boyce. Boyce starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie The Descendents, and passed away in 2019 due to complications of this illness. Boyce was 20 years old at the time of his death, which undoubtedly shook the Disney community.
The Foundation & Event
The Anita Kaufmann Foundation works hard to educate the public to not fear this condition. Additionally, they want to bring hope to those living with this condition every day. This event is an opportunity to raise awareness, and without question will include appearances by Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Registration is $15 per adult, however, children are free. It should be noted that park tickets are required for evening activities at Epcot.
Participants will have a chance to win exciting prizes, including a dream vacation giveaway! Furthermore, an additional $250 prize will be available for those who attend the Spaceship Earth lighting that night. Above all, you definitely don’t want to miss this chance to raise awareness for a great cause.
